8d audio, new or nothing new?

right so came across this article…

honestly its just seems to me that its just recycled old techniques of stereo imaging and panning, i fail to see a difference what do you think?

yeah its just panning and eq tomfoolery… the way 8d audio channels do it is just lazy. iirc fantano did a video about it all a while back
