Looking for ambient with complex harmony

Hi,

I'm looking for ambient albums that uses complex harmony just like in classical music. Lots of differents chords, modulations, or even 1/8 tones, just like Ligeti's Lux Aeterna (not able to post link, easily findable on Youtube) but instead of a choir, soft and warm synth pads.

Or even some "modal" ambient that tends to sound very 20th's century. I think it should be definitely interesting.

Thanks for your answers!

Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze... The "Berlin school" of electronic music.

Another example of "still classical, but sounding close to ambient":

John Adams - Common Tones in simple Time

Or wait for my next album It's not particularly "ambient" as it builds on progression and drama, but it's atmospheric electronic music without beats.
My 2015 album is kind of a preview, the new one will be more complex: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

Re: Looking for ambient with complex harmony

Isn't the point of ambient music to deliver a sound texture slowly evolving ?
If so, functional harmony usually found in classical music cannot work in that context. You may find ambient music using chords (whether they are tonal, modal, microtonal,...?) probably drowned into some huge reverb, but it won't be in that scenario where a note tension calls for a logic resolution.

If you like complex harmony in the context of electronic music I recommend listening to the first track of that mix :

Re: Looking for ambient with complex harmony

Have you checked out some of the ambient stuff put out by Silent Season? I'd recommend Adam Michalak's stuff, in particular. Beautiful harmonies.
