Audio Formats supporting Slice Markers / Meta Data

Hey guys!

I'm thinking of building some applications relating to audio management for games, and as such wanted to find information on audio formats, and specifically how to read the various slice marker/region data they might have.

Does anyone have any comprehensive / guide-like articles that give a good overview? Google is throwing up a lot of gibberish I haven't quite finished sifting through...

P.
