I can say from my experience, I have spent HOURS AND HOURS on tracks that STILL aren't finished. and here's what I've learned from that.
For one, my BEST tracks were made within about 2 or 3 days. when the track is right it just flows right out.
And as far as setting timelines, even though I'm a hypocrite and i dont do it, I absolutely think it should be done. For 2 reasons. 1 - if a track doesnt work, it doesnt. Move on and take what you learned from it. and 2. too much time leaves to overthinking and overdeveloping. and then it never living up to your expectation. Just move on.
Honestly i think you might be stressing it too much. Relax and let the work flow. Don't forget to have fun. Keep it a passion, not a job.
