Re: Beginnings of Electronic Music

It is not the start of electronic music but I think the first album solely consisting of computer generated music was released in 1960 titled "Music form Mathematics". Programmed on an IBM computer by various boffins with thick glasses

I have a copy, interesting stuff if not particularly listenable.

Re: Beginnings of Electronic Music

Like it was mentioned before by some of you. It was as early as 19th century when first music instruments were invented. First synthesizers were invented in the beginning of 20th century. A notable experimantator was Karlheinz Stockhausen, who was the inspiration to Kraftwerk, who in turn made synthesizer sound popular. I did my wikipedia homework.

Re: Beginnings of Electronic Music

One of the earliest was Oskar Sala. He helped building the Trautonium, later did his own refinement, the Mixturtrautonium. In 1929 he did sounddesign for the Louis Trenker film 'The Hell of Pizz Palu". He wrote concerto music, ballet music and became widely known for his electronic sounddesign to Hitchcock's "The Birds" in 1963.
