Anybody Ever Throw A GUitar Pedal In?

Has anybody ever patched in ... or mounted a guitar pedal in their rack?

Or do people only stick with the modular hardware that was designed specifically for it?

Anybody have some Frankenstein builds? With Exposed Circuitboards...etc?

I've only started learning about modular synths.

Re: Anybody Ever Throw A GUitar Pedal In?

when it comes to modular, guitar pedals where the first... In fact, thats a poor man's modular to setup several pedals and patch them together in various ways, well,,, not so much poor man these days with $800 guitar pedals.

Its really whatever you want to do...whatever you want as a sound source or an effect.. Thats the point of modular ability.

Oh yes, a lot of people patch in pedals.

There are modules out there, made just for that purpose.

Re: Anybody Ever Throw A GUitar Pedal In?

I've never had any real modular gear, but I've run the poor man's modular setup (shitty synth > pedal board and multi-FX units under various configurations). I could see mixing and matching the two

Re: Anybody Ever Throw A GUitar Pedal In?

I use pedals on my synths and drum machines quite often. If you want to get into really whacky stuff, add a cheap mixer and hook things up in a crazy feedback network with the sends. It really does turn pedals into a modular synth.

Re: Anybody Ever Throw A GUitar Pedal In?

Moogerfooger pedals are based on the original Moog Modular synthesizer system, and so all pedals have extensive CV inputs and outputs.

If you go to the link below, check out the "CP-251 Control Processor", which really shows that this is a true modular system only "disguised as pedals".

For optimal integration with Eurorack you'll need some kind of CV amplifier/attenuator device or module (the Moogs max out at 5V if I remember correctly).

Re: Anybody Ever Throw A GUitar Pedal In?

I used to keep an old ProCo Rat pedal on top of my rack to add "hair" to basses from my MultiTrak or Poly 800. I always meant to get more but never got around to it.

Re: Anybody Ever Throw A GUitar Pedal In?

I do this often enough, running modular into my pedal board for some nice overdrive, analog delays, etc. I don't have a dedicated in/out module, but as is said, they are out there. There are so many good FX pedals out there, and they play really nice with modular as long as you get the levels right.
