You say it. A "Niche genre". But it does not matter how many chords a song uses or not, this is electronic music, and there are great 8 minute tracks out there with just one chord vamp. Much choords or melodic and harmonic complexity do not make a nice track on their own, it is always the mind and the idea behind that makes a tune interesting.

I can only agree to that. I dont think that there is something as "holy rules" in music. New, innovative sounds can only be achieved by breaking rules. It. can be helpful, if you got some guidelines, but i dont think it's correct to call them holy rules.
