Re: iPad apps?

Even though I basically never incorporate my iPad into my production process, the Yamaha DM1 is a pretty tight drum machine.

Re: iPad apps?

There are lots of great synths imo. Here is a few a few of my faves :-

Nave is the Largo/Blofeld type synth - really nice
Animoog - playable, good add-on sounds
Gadget - brilliant phrase synth
PPG synths - nice digital sounds
Stria - a thing of FM Beauty
iSEM - lovely VA
iVCS - not 100% authentic from what I've read (not used a real one) but who cares when its fun and makes cool sounds

I mostly use my ipad standalone and use the audio in my DAW later - the audio from them when bounced internally is no different to any other comparable vsti.

Hey, I do this too! It's really great and cost effective (the iPad was a gift, mind you.)

Reason's Thor, Sunrizer, and Nave are my three go-to synths.
All cost me under 40$, I believe.

Imo, this is what is cool about iPad as a device. One minute it can be a fun 'toy-like' instrument, the next a DAW, a midi controller, a serious midi synth/sampler, an effects processor etc

Ipad as a gift is niiiiice

Re: iPad apps?

iPad is great fun and so nice to have arounds when wanting to doodle a quick idea yet it can really integrate in your creative process.

Second all the apps mentioned above. Would like to add Cubasis (best DAW) and a pretty deep app called 'Mixtikl'.[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

Re: iPad apps?

I'm currently making a lot of sounds (for a track) with the Virtual ANs1.. very cool app, you can import jpeg images and see what a picture sounds like.

The Z3ta+ is STILL a cool synth, as an App or VSTi . And Seekbeats is a cool drum machine App.

Re: iPad apps?

My most used current iPad apps are

1. Korg iElectribe, its a far more flexible and interesting app than many people realise. I love to jam on it.

2. iMPC pro, easy to use, very decent library just waiting for
and it will be a viable MPC replacement.

Re: iPad apps?

I recently downloaded a good app for finding BPM, it's called BPMlite and was free. It's usefull if you're on the fly and need to know the BPM of a track, just tap the beats into the app and it displays the BPM for you

Re: iPad apps?

Highly recommend Propellerhead's Thor synth. Very powerful synth and you can use your patches on desktop (via Reason's Thor)

I use Waldorf Nave, Animoog, iMS20 mainly, and some cool effects that you can find online like Adelay and Video Noise.

Re: iPad apps?

I love Beatmaker 2. It's a DAW I suppose, but my main attraction is just hammering out beats on the 4x4 pads. Very responsive with nice sounding kits.
