Here it is 2014 and I didn't realise until about a day ago that FL Studio can be used to launch clips in performance mode in a way similar to Ableton Live!!!!! It's a pretty fun way to play and record music and it has some specific advantages similar to some drum machine live performance tricks.
I'm guessing I'm not the only person who didn't realise this, since these days other DAWs have more publicity. So I thought I'd post up these videos that explain how it's done for anybody who uses FL Studio.
Note: FL Studio 10.5 and above come with a demo project of the performance mode and it even can work with a regular MIDI keyboard instead of a specialised controller. Image-Line has taken the effort to make it compatible with Novation's and other clip-launching MIDI controllers.
