Cool man!
Is the bass station doing the main arpeggio?

Main arp is the MS20, the arp that comes in later is the Bass Station.

MS-20 <3

Obligatory Ambient Track [x] (every good electronic music album needs one!)

I really like the layered arps and the BSII and MS20 sound very nice seated next to each other.

This sounds like something that could have easily been in the closing credits of an 80s sci-fi movie. Great work dude!

Ms-20 is such a stand out instrument and so versitile compared to other things. I do like the atmosphere of the track though.

I was basically coming back here to say "if this track doesn't convince you that you NEED to own an MS20...nothing will..." Its honestly the only synth I own that I find just the raw tone of its oscillators, filters and noise to be truly unique. Even ignoring the patch bay there is a ton of expression possible in subtle knob movements.

...I just love this instrument and this track really demonstrates its "beautiful" side.

Perfect 80s style ambient soundtrack! It could be a Stranger Things' OST track.

My first (and only one) hardware synth is MS-20: i love it! I bought it three months ago, I can do every kind of sound I need, also it's very different if you use only one oscillator: people thinks that it's more on the nasty/acid side, but with a simple saw wave and the hp/lp filters it sounds awesome. I'm working on my first only MS-20 track after loads of patches (made for pure fun) inspired by Velokitty's Youtube user limitations.

Thanks for listening!

My MS20 is a recent acquisition as well, I am really enjoying it. I dont know that i have done more than scratch the surface with it, but then I dont really shoot for complex patches. For me hearing it, as raw as it is compared to my other keyboards it immediately created a sense of nostalgia, it sounds straight out of the 70's in a way that my other synths dont. Its a unique little synth and while it wont be my go to for everything, it certainly has a place in my studio.

I'll check out those Youtube vid's to see if there are some tricks I've not figured out yet. (:

Yes, it has a 70's sound and it's its strenght. Surely it can't be used for everything... but with processing it can be used for every kind of electronic music. After four years I'm still astonished about Jon Hopkins' masterpiece Open Eye Signal: it's all MS-20, obviously layered and resampled, but I can't imagine how to achieve such an organic sound.

Youtube user that I reported to you does ambient and acid stuff with MS-20, also some Aphex Twin's covers. It doesn't explain patches, but it's inspiring more than most of yt's videos.

Well, the Jon Hopkins tone relies a ton on the post processing, love that tune. That bass tone is definitely osc 1 and 2 detuned to a 5th, I have an old-er techno tune that uses a similar tone but I made it before i had the mS20, I used a NordLead 2.

you can check it via private link here:

it required a lot of realtime playing and manipulating the Nord's parameters in realtime. (:

Interesting track, it seems more Collider's style Nord Lead is also good, better than Virus' ones in my opinion.

Wow, so much good ambient on this forum! Great atmosphere of the track, those analog synths sound so smooth.definitely should be a soundtrack to the crossover of Blade Runner and Stranger Things
The leading synth even reminds me of some minimalist composers like Glass.
Great job especially that you are specialised in disco on Soundcloud.

Thanks for listening, Disco and Synth wave is sort of the main focus for Neon Cities, but I've been producing ambient music for years. (:

Re: [Ambient/Soundtrack] Neon Cities - Storm On The Isle

I knew that arp was an ms20! I'm so proud of my ears right now!

You used some nice boards to make this track. I love the richness and fullness of the sound. Great balance.

I love the quality and would be curious to see where else you could take it. I feel like the arp makes it very driven for an ambient piece. I can almost hear a standard electro-beat coming in, or you can go off into space in the opposite direction.

I want to hear what else you can do
