Nice Rack! (EQ, Dynamics, FX)

A thread to discuss outboard and/or rackmount dynamics, EQ and FX processors. We can throw in the half rack/desktop stuff as well as 500 series and what not ;p

At the moment Ive just got my Electrix Filter Factory, a Joe Meek MC2 and an FML Really Nice Compressor. Oh and a Soundcraft EPM8...might give boosting for character a go with its filters/EQ. Nothing much else to say at the moment, but realized we didnt have a thread for this yet and work is just painfully slow right now.

Re: Nice Rack! (EQ, Dynamics, FX)

I have a FMR RNLA that I love running stuff through before it goes into the Octatrack

I've been tempted by the JoeMeek ThreeQ to use as a channel strip for a mic before going into the OT.

Only outboard effect I own is the RNLA though hehe. Well, and my Octatrack and Monomachine. Very nice multi-fx if I do say so myself

And I can use the OP-1 as a mono effect with stereo output. Sadly the input sums to mono for the built-in four track.

But the RNLA is the only dedicated one >.>

Honestly, I wish I could afford a Monomachine just to use as a step sequenced FX unit....

Re: Nice Rack! (EQ, Dynamics, FX)

I haven't got any outboard at the moment but I can use some of my mates stuff if I feel the need. He's got the Audient Mico pre & Golden Age Pre-73 which are both quite affordable and sound really nice. I did have a TL Audio 5051 for a while but I just didn't use it enough to justify keeping it, so I let it go.

To be honest, my Apogee Duet hooked up to a decent mic is all I will probably ever need as I don't record a great deal of stuff that needs anything more - my UAD plugs work wonders on such a solid, clear recordings so I can spend my money elsewhere.

That's not to say I don't look longingly at those cool (but very expensive) racks packed with vintage & boutique units.
