Re: Building a music PC...

How about installing ExoCore which is available from Dogsbark.net (I would leave a link but it seems that Idmforums has changed a LOT since my last visit and won't let a veteran such as myself post links!!)

I have used it but don't really get a huge speed increase as the computer that I use is high spec, but I could imagine people with slower Window's PCs benefiting or just those people obsessed with getting every last bit of computing power delivered to music production.

The great thing about it, is that it shows you in real-time the benefit it has on your system.

Some good starting pointers for people getting into PC-based systems there

Had a quick nosey but couldn't find any reviews and the only download link was from Software Informer, a site I'm always a bit dubious about.

Yes some good starting points.

Is making electronic based music for 16 yrs not a veteran? Or being a member of IDM Forums for something like over 7 yrs?

Not sure what happened to some of my old posts They've disappeared. I guess they were a bit out of date/touch with current computer tech. Anyway, I've never posted much or very frequently I just focus on quality over quantity and if I see something that can help others improve their music then I offer advice.

Go to Dogsbark.net not Software Informer. I don't blame you for avoiding Software Informer as I wouldn't use it either. Too cheap looking.

ExoCore is free and I'm not affiliated with it in anyway. They also make a nice DSP app for smartphones which is how I first heard of them. Crazy that they offer so many freebies really.

Let me know how you get on.

If you've been on the forums for 7 years you know the policy regarding post count and links, it doesn't take long to just get the post count up by taking part in the community.

I'll have a look at Dogsbark, cheers for the link

Re: Building a music PC...

Damn You're quick! I didn't know the policy or if I did it has slipped my memory. Must be getting old.

Seriously check it out. If you're not even mildly impressed by it you haven't got a pulse.

Also check out their DSP (s) if you have a smartphone. They're considered one of the best out there.
