Hey guys, I posted another thread about running your TR-8 and soundcard at the same time in Ableton on PC a few months ago. That post did not include how to keep your multiclient support with the soundcard. Many of us enjoy being able to listen to music or sample hunt on the internet outside the DAW while producing.
To do this, you must use asio4all.
Select asio4all as your audio device in ableton.
Click input config. Configure asio4all as per the first photo:
Your soundcard on > expand your audio card settings, turn on the main input and output.
The TR-8 on > expand TR-8 settings, turn off OUT, EXT and IN MIX. Turn on all others.
Open Abletons input config - configure as per second photo
Open Abletons output config - configure as per third photo
Now open windows Playback Devices menu and select the "EXT TR-8" as the default device. Turn up external input on TR-8.
Now in ableton channel 14 will be your multiclient channel for listening to audio outside the DAW. Just set up an audio track to monitor in channel 14.
Inputs 3 through to 13 will be your TR-8 inputs kick through to ride.
You need to use individual tracks in Ableton for your TR8 inputs, because the MIX IN track is turned off, as the external input (now your multiclient input from outside of DAW) is part of your TR-8 mix in, so you hear it all at once. You also need the latest TR-8 firmware which allows 44.1 output.
