Yeah, a key detector...Each and every morning, when my wife and me are about to leave the house (running late as usual) and we just can't find her keys - I ask myself the same question; 'Does FL studio have a key detector??'

Btw, my wife said no, it doesn't have a key detector, but there's a parotte on box!

Re: How to find the key of a sample in FL Studio?

Does it come with a tuner?

What if there are multiple dominant frequencies in the sample, like a chord or a very ringy snare? Maybe you have to rely on your ears then. A bummer, but very educational.

the thing that loads wave/audio files in layers also have this function. I used it with fruity way back and it helped me loads back then.

Re: How to find the key of a sample in FL Studio?

you could just compare it by ear like play a note on instrument or 11 other

i guess you also can transponse you sample few octaves higher if you can't make a difference at its original pitch

Re: How to find the key of a sample in FL Studio?

you can open a spectrum analyzer and look for the key when the sample "resolves". Sometimes i like to hum the sample and usually the key is the note that feels like its at home or when i resolves. Sorry if it doesn't make sense lol

open up directwave drag sample in right click on it and go to find pitch root at the bottom of the drop down menu.

Re: How to find the key of a sample in FL Studio?

It's really to your advantage to do it by ear. Just load up a basic sine wave and play through some octaves on the keys until you figure the note or notes. If you've got a musical ear at all should be pretty simple.

I don't believe in "key".
