ATOMIC DROP MEGAMIX Oct2010
The Atomic Drop trio are the hottest new electronic act to emerge from the UK. Bringing a tough mix of futuristic house music for modern times, splicing and blending cutting edge club music from electro to dubstep and techno to breaks, these three Brightonians know exactly how to craft irresistable and memorable dancefloor shakers.
Made up of DJ, producer and Audio-Visual artist James Anthony and seasoned producer/engineers Kenny Keys and Cameron Leonard-Schroff, they continually bust out their tough, jacking sound from their studio in Brighton and play to dancefloors from London to Rio, from Amsterdam to Tokyo.
With the number of releases growing steadily and with support from DJ's Tim Healey, Miles Dyson, Lee Coombs, Meat Katie, Far Too Loud and NeuroDriver and from labels Massive Music,Surfer Rosa, Plasmapool, Bazooka Records, Lot 49, BrokenRobot, Liquid and Broken Records, Atomic Drop look set to be the "the future stars of Electro House".
AD have played at some of the best clubs, events and festivals the world over. With numerous tours in Brazil, Japan and throughout Europe, headling the Main Stage and Arcadia stage at the UK’s number 1 dance event – The Glade Festival and the world famous Glastonbury Festival. 3 nerds with glasses and hardsynths... Expectations set high... Aaaaanddd.... Deception.
Some pretty good beats here, but all the synthwork is so cliché... Common, man, it's a shitload of pure sawtooth and square waves with LP... Bzuit bzoop bwopz bwitz blutz blow blow blow bzuity bzoop bzoopy bzip?... Bzuit?
Well bzot it.
"Merry Christmas, or your localized Christmas equivalent"
Fresh from headlining to a 30,000 strong crowd on the Arcadia stage at this years Glastonbury Festival, Atomic Drop release one of their fattest electro tracks to date. VERTIGO is a ripping electro house chopper with plenty of bassline movement and a tough sample fuelled groove. The breakdown is a massive peak-time moment with huge euphoric synths leading into a filthy drop that delivers the payoff. The B-side DROP THE BEAT carries on in similar style although delivering a slightly more stripped down sound.
