Analog sound salivating

I have long been a sucker for that rich old analog sound. On my gotta have list are:

Uhe Diva
Arturia Vox Continental V

... but in truth, I am starting to lust for this one here:

Yes, love Monark. I also caved and bought Diva today. That's a shitload of gear, again, this week.

I have been spending money like a drunken sailor. I bought two Brain Worx plugins I have been wanting for ever.

If you really want a nice synth, something like a Moog with mostly knob per function is the way to go. Pretty sure I am going to get a double Moog Mother 32 setup in 2016.

I think I will contemplate the idea once I actually have some keyboard skills.

I dunno man...I cant play but prefer synths with keys. Youd be surprised. I can bang out short riffs that are more than useable. Just hit record and jam.

Lol! I love Maschine for this... just push a dial and you got chords, hamonics, select a scale and you never play out of tune. Its ridiculously easy. And my friend, the arpeggiator... what would it be like without him...?

What's your go to gear. The stuff you hit up first when you look for sounds or inspiration?

I dont keep uninspiring gear...but...I usually reach for my UltraNova first...perfect combo of complexity and accessibility. I really love my desktop Evolver but it is slower to program, takes some deeper diving but ultimately makes more unique sounds. I also love my Mopho Keys because of its simplicity.

Re: Analog sound gloating

All analog gear... 😎

Looked at the Moog Mother. Wouldn't be the priciest piece of gear on my desk. The Voyager sounds pretty rad, though.

Never looked into it... is connecting it to integrate with the box fairly straightforward?

Re: Analog sound gloating

So are we talking analog synths we want, analog synths we have, or what?

I'm a bit unclear.

I'm with relic there on the M32 love. If I thought I'd be able to invest even a small amount on modular gear over the next year I'd already have one.

As for me, after several years spent fiddling in the dark with virtual analog outboard, followed by a several years in the box, I recently jumped on the analog bandwagon with an Analog Four / Slim Phatty combo. Been on board long enough to make one full track on the A4 and have yet to even scratch surface with the Slim added to the mix.

I will say though it was much easier to get those classic sounds I've been after with the analog gear vs what I was able to do ITB. Could be because after all these years I now know better what to do or it could be a result of the machines circuitry. I guess though the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle, actually.

Re: Analog sound gloating

I wish I have a SH-101, but for the moment I only have a system-1 with the SH-101 "plug-out"... No, it's not real analog gear, but at least you have the one knob per function thing and since I never played on a real SH-101 i don't feel the difference

Speaking of analog gears, did someone here already think about building his own synth? Is there a thread on idmf where people can share some circuits diagrams?

Yeah, so am I 😂

All of the above, I guess. All I have is ITB. I did grow up on true analog sounds. That's what electronic music was made of. While I am generally skeptical when people use adjectives such as warm, rich, lush, and so on to characterize how true analog gear differs from digital, I could almost say that I can hear it, too.

I guess I'll have to check it out eventually...

Just came across an all tube based full analog synth:

There is a neat little video posted of its sound capabilities.

And for a mere 12,000.00 one of the six handmade units could be yours.
