Icon5 Need a good Reverb VST

All,

I need some good quality reverb for some dubby sound design. I am leaning towards Softube TSAR-1 or (more likely) Valhalla DSP.

Any other suggestions?

Andy

Re: Need a good Reverb VST

Vahalla Vintage will take you far, throw in Shimmer and UberMod (free) and you are there.

However if you want some really nice sounding dubby delay/echo goodness I highly recommend U-He Satin...sounds so good...but a bit of an investment at 189USD.

Epicverb is free and can do quite a lot, I always start with that one.

Re: Need a good Reverb VST

I have TSAR-1 in Reason and it's sweet

U-he makes great sounding plugs, so I'll have to consider that one.
Valhalla seems to be the rage in various message boards with a price that's very reasonable.

Does anyone have comparison data between Tsar-1 and Valhalla?

I have the vintage tape emulator as part of Ozone 7 Advanced, wouldn't that be good enough as far as tape saturators go?

Re: Need a good Reverb VST

Sorry..don't have the compa info your looking for..but I just wanted to mention that old workhorse "Glaceverb"

Been using it for years..and not just on drums either! It really does a hell of a lot to a mix if you play around with it, no matter what you put it on, it can really give you some interesting sounds..and it's still FREE.

Re: Need a good Reverb VST

I feel that demoing reverbs is key because some reverbs make the sound more staticky and washed out while others sound richer and fuller without the staticky bit.

And don't forget Impulse Response reverbs. A lot of impuse responses are freeware so you just need a reverb that can load them. Some of the newer ones can edit and EQ the IR's.

Say you have something open in Kontak on one channel in you DAW..do you just load reaktor into one of the FX strips on that channel under Kontak and then open up Space master to apply it to whatever you're using in Kontak?

Sorry if that's something basic that should be known, but I'm still relatively new to NI's stuff and haven't really dipped into reaktor all that much.

You could. Lately I've been using Space Master as my main reverb send.

Cheers..must give it a go then and see how it stands up. Heard a lot about it, but didn't realize I had it sitting there all the long. Man, there's SO much stuff that comes in the KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE package..it seems to be taking me forever to work my way through em all!

Yes. I'm not sure how it is addressed on the PC anymore, but I have 2 versions of Reaktor listed in my plugins library. One is listed as Reaktor FX and the other simply Reaktor. The "Reaktor" plug is designed to go on midi tracks for hosting Ensembles (reaktor creations) that produce sound as instruments, the "Reaktor FX" or "MFX" (depending on which version of Reaktor you have) is for hosting ensembles that have audio ins and outs, so yes, insert effects or aux sends, subgroups etc....

Not bad for a small price.

If you want to go all out do a combo of Soundtoys v5 combod with something like 2caudio verbs
