No. The Nord Racks are digital (virtual analog).
Look at the Arturia Minibrute.

Is there a difference between the Nord Rack 2 and Nord Lead Rack 2, or am I just being a noob and they are the same thing?

They are both the same.

And if you're looking for an all arounder I'd go Blofeld or Nord over the brute.

Oh and with the Blofeld you get 16 parts depending on polyphony, the Nord you get 4.

The mini brute...1.

Never dismiss the MK - right now, it's my favorite sound engine.

Re: DSI Evolver vs. Tetra Vs. Mopho vs. Microkorg XL

The Nord Leads need outboard f/x and processing to sound really good. The Blofeld and MS2000/MK could be one-stop synths for many people.

Also, I still swear that the Nord Lead 1 sounds far better than the Nord Lead 2x, even though the folks at Gearslutz say I'm crazy. I cannot get the same sounds that I loved from my 2x that I could with my 1. Worst trade I ever made.

You're right.

To the TC - why do you want/need analog?

You can get good vintage polysynths like the Juno 106 for 500 euro these days, but they tend to break down, and need servicing once in a while.
And i waz tryin to be hip with my "polyfonic" word...

I still dont understand how people say an analog monosynth is better than a polyphonic VA. Its like saying a sampler is better than a drumcomputer. Or like a microwave is better than an airplane (they both can warm up your food)

I always suggest the 2 because of the perc.

This is a difference between 1 and 2 correct...or no?

If you don't mind it being mono, I would vote for the Evolver, but please ignore the preset sounds, they're really dreadful, I don't think I found a single preset I would use...

The Minibrute is a single voice, yes? Therefore, not versatile IMO

Re: DSI Evolver vs. Tetra Vs. Mopho vs. Microkorg XL

I think that the Minibrute is actually a pretty good synth. I mean, it would be better if it was polyphonic, but I would still choose it over the Evolver. They are both monophonic, but the minibrute has all the knobs and sliders AND a keyboard AND a pitch and mod wheel. The Blofeld is awesome and all, but a little more expensive and only has 4 knobs.

What do you guys think? Minibrute or Mopho Keyboard?

Re: DSI Evolver vs. Tetra Vs. Mopho vs. Microkorg XL

Were it between the two I'd buy the Mopho keys.

One more osc and you get patch storage.

But you're now getting upwards of $500.00 so why don't you just get a nice polyphonic VA?

Edit: I would also assume the DSI has a far better keyboard but I can't say for sure because I've never touched one.

^ What? The Mini Brute has everything up front and is only $500. The Mopho Keys is $850. At least that's the new price on both.

As much as I would gladly take both, I honestly don't know the sounds of either or have a love for either Brand. Well, I take that back. I will own a Moog one day. =D

Re: DSI Evolver vs. Tetra Vs. Mopho vs. Microkorg XL

Yeah the Minibrute is much cheaper but the OP didn't mention price he only asked what would I pick if I had to pick from either one.

My answer remains the same but, the truth is, if I had 500.00 or 800.00 to spend on a synth I wouldn't pick either one.

lol, yea. To be honest, I want the Blofeld so I'm in the same boat as you. Of course, I do want a mono bass synth eventually.

No need for an analog monosynth for you at this point is what I think.
