Re: Ribbon Controller

cool! I have a ribbon controller but as part of a keyboard. I could really put a controller like that to good use. Do you sell those?

Re: Ribbon Controller

This is sweet. It made me look into DIY ribboncontrollers with VHS tapes and stuff. Seems pretty cool.

Re: Ribbon Controller

Nice work!

Is this CV or MIDI?

I've been trying to decide whether to make a photo-sensitive controller (something i could use a flashlight with), a Theremin, or a ribbon controller. Just took apart my stylophone to get the basics.

Re: Ribbon Controller

Hi Everybody.
New ribbon controller video is uploaded.

Bermuda Triangle - performed by 1969

"1969" is electric experimental music unit. The member of this unit must be born in 1969 and play handmade electric instruments.
Yuichi Onoue plays handmade ribbon controller and analog sequencer.
Minoru Yonemoto plays handmade electric sound generator which is called "Machine No.3". "Machine No.3" is controlled(played) by 8 bit data which is generated by manually (not by micro controller).

Re: Ribbon Controller

Interesting, as always.

btw, have you ever tried a hardware autotuner to tune the glides generated from the synth? Just a thought.
i used to do that with a theremin, which was an easy trick for me. :)

Re: Ribbon Controller

Thanks Evelon.

I have not tried autotuner yet.
But I also think it is interesting.
I want to try it when there is a chance.

Based on your circuit diagram it is a CV controller - you change the resistance of the presented to the oscillator input by where you press on the ribbon, a fancy open-ended voltage divider, effectively changing the voltage driving the oscillator.
