you MUST be available to group chat via a RELIABLE skype connection (webcam no necessary, just mic and speakers/headphones) have good critical listening skills regardless of genre, and also have the committed time over then next 10 days to do this. if you are even slightly unsure about being able to do those things please don't say you would like to judge. It seems strict, but there is a schedule to try keep an also artists who've put serious effort into their music an deserve no less serious effort in "judging" their music
Why the skype requirement?
That rules me out which is a shame because I'd quite liked to have been involved again.
it's proved very useful in the past to be able to discuss between all the judges "live", a lot of entries end up wth the same score or a particular judge may have really marked a track down or up compared to the average for it so again it's good to discuss those things it can mean a track making it a release or not as has been the case each time it's been done that way. Or maybe someone notices a mix issue others haven't etc etc
It has to be reliable though as when a previous judges skype went down and they could only type, it made things hard waiting for them to catch up on a live convo with typing
average for open is between 35-45 this one presents challenge of more than just splitting the potential artist numbers in two, but also people unable/unwilling/don't have the time to do a collab or find someone that can. i missed the deadline myself :/
I'd be up for judging this. I can drop them on my phone and listen to them at work, over and over. Can get skype if needed, though a group chat might be hard to schedule for me. I would also make dick jokes.
