LOL yeah i know that now. But when I got it, i had no idea what it was. And it had no cards so it was stock sounds. I got rid of it too quickly. Now i wish i still had it!! At the same time i was working at a recording studio that had a Prophet V, Prophet VS, and a MiniMoog... I didn't understand how to use them, so i didn't mess with them much. Then the recession hit and all got sold. I missed out.

The Moog was soo cool! You had to hit a button to tune it. Otherwise it wasnt at 440

Lol. I could try and make it smaller? It's a creative thing I'm trying to start up. A way. For everyone to get cool stuff to help with music production and teach about synths.

Re: What Was Your First Hardware Synth?

my first synth was the korg n5ex.

i obtained it through working at uhaul, where this synth was sitting unclaimed. i had fun with it, but after cutting my teeth on a friend's dw8000, i had no idea what i was doing with the n5ex. i did manage to get some cool sounds, but i sold it later to get my first midi controller and ableton live lite.

later, when i reinvested in hardware, i went first to the microkorg. it was certainly more fun than the n5ex, and i used it for lots of noise performances and ambient zone outs, but i ultimately ended up selling that later on as well. it honestly seems like the ubiquitous first choice for lots of synth nuts, though it's certainly not worth what some of the postings on ebay are asking.

I sold it on for someone else to 'enjoy' fairly recently..............

Does that make me a bad person?

Re: What Was Your First Hardware Synth?

First one I bought with my own money? A Yamaha MU5, bought in 1994. I had other synths that had been loaned to me but this was the first one I bought for myself.

I bought it mainly because I didn't need to buy a separate keyboard to go with it since the little chiclet "keys" also transmitted MIDI. Connected that thing up to my Atari ST, fired up my sequencer, and made some music. Eventually I bought a Novation MM10x to go with it, then sold the MU5 and bought my beloved Boss DS330 to replace it.

Re: What Was Your First Hardware Synth?

My first synth was a Korg MS20 mini, in 2014. I spent days and nights on it, trying to understand this patch matrix, and still today seems to be a little esoteric according to me. I love this synth, so many possibilities on it. So bad the construction isn't good, knobs and jack holes are wiggly as hell.

Re: What Was Your First Hardware Synth?

Mines was the sub 37 and I recently sold it to get a matrix brute. I did feel a little something inside, and I might be getting one again sometime in the future. I have to say I loved it like one loves an animal.
