YouTube embedding

Just wondering, is it possible to somehow turn off the loading off youtube vids in threads/posts? I'm on a really dodgy link and it takes ages to load threads with a lot of youtube videos embedded in them. If that is not possible, maybe a cool idea to add some option like that to preferences?

Re: YouTube embedding

Just had a look and didn't see any option to remove youtube displays, and it's so deeply embedded in the bulletin's coding that a top admin would need to dig/sift through all the code to add a function.

On the other hand I also find that this is directly an issue with webkit, on my alright connection any page with loads of youtubes or soundclouds absolutely bog down the webkit's ability to display flash, and make it seem like your connection is faulty when in reality it's the browser's ability to handle flash, in "containers".

Do you use Google Chrome? If so, that'll do it. Your connection may be fine... Just multiple instances of flash, embeds, widgets, etc, Chrome can't handle it I find.

Re: YouTube embedding

If you use Mozilla FireFox, you can add some Add-on extensions such as FlashBlock, to prevent flash items from loading unless you click on them. Or, you can use other similar types of add-on extensions to turn flash off for certain sites entirely.

If you have FireFox, it's really worth it to check add-ons page: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

This. If you tell us what browser you're using it might be easier to help you find something. I don't think the forum software allows the disabling of certain embedded media...will have a look though.
