Re: Artists like Burial?

Getting off a bit here but Sepalcure got a mention earlier so I had to throw out Machinedrum in particular.

I think the quality of sound that he's working with is comparable to Burial. His tracks don't pigeonhole at all, pretty all over the place, but that vibe that's getting set - that's what's up.

But finding someone that's like Burial, like a style, that's a trick box question. Making me go through my brain, gold star thread topic.

Re: Artists like Burial?

Check Sorrow's album "Dreamstone". Sven Weisemann's project as Desolate also has Burial 'esque influences.

Re: Artists like Burial?

I hope there are still some subscriptions on here.

Ghostek's Random Memories is really, really, really good. Pretty recent release as well.

Re: Artists like Burial?

The closest I've found to Burials sound is Bimbotronic. Awesome producer which is identical.

Re: Artists like Burial?

Re-affirming that Volor Flex is the closest thing. It's almost TOO similar to burial. I might even be upset about it if burial made more music. To me it's just like more burial

Re: Artists like Burial?

kid simpl is like minimal burial, altho this track doesnt really express that. check out the hush hush bandcamp, his album skylight is amazing.
http://hushhushrecords.bandcamp.com/

also on that bandcamp 'vvv' is reminiscant of burial, but more 'hip hop' or 'future beat' w/e.

Re: Artists like Burial?

It has probably been mentioned before, but Pariah's "Orpheus" is probably one of my favourites, with soulful vocal sample and always gorgeous future garage vibe. Also one of the best B-sides ever

Re: Artists like Burial?

Post club half-step at its best is what you want then...

Bonecold, Ghostek, Submerse, Desolate, Crypt, Clubroot, Davwuh... the list pretty much goes on, I believe its been called Ambstep in a few places (Though that's just trying to be too cool IMO its just Ambient Future Garage/Halfstep.)

Hope this helps anyway, been a while since I checked out this side of the spectrum (might get stuck into hunting again)

Who do you think Burial was influenced by? Autechre?
