Alternatives to iTunes?

I'm looking for something that I can use instead of itunes to listen to music, it NEEDS to have the option to select the audio output inside the program. I want to just be able to open it up, and select my sound card as the output. iTunes would be fine but there are times when no matter what I do I can't get it to play music through anything but my computer speakers. Kind of frustrating.

It needs to be for Mac.

Re: Alternatives to iTunes?

if you set up your audio settings you should be able to choose what output is being used. I use itunes on my mac with an mbox2.

Yeah, I do that but iTunes will still refuse to use my interface as its output, really frustrating. It kind of just does what it wants.

Yeah, I always open my audio settings and do this though, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes my computer doesn't even recognize that my soundcard is on, and then I open the internet, start browsing around, and like half an hour later it just magically starts working. I almost never have this problem with Logic though, because I simply select the sound card as its audio output and it works just fine.

Re: Alternatives to iTunes?

as far as I know iTunes just uses the output set in your system prefs...

Quickest way to change this is OptionClick the volume speaker icon in menu bar and choose your output from the list.

Bam!

Try Winamp Sync, still in beta but Winamp is still my favorite media player.

I'd actually suggest what HDiMusic suggested...

there's no reason to change programs. The Mac OS IS the program that needs to be adjusted.

how so? The last release had a completely different gui, which soundcloud also did, AND windows 8 with their start menu and things.

Re: Alternatives to iTunes?

Speaking of iTunes, does anyone know of a skin or standalone version of iTunes that can be changed? I have searched everywhere for a "black" or "dark" iTunes but to no avail.
