Tbh, it's better doing this using your ear, I mean it should go the way you want it to go. That's what I do most of the the time. Made presets as a starting point for myself and then just tweak them without actually looking at the values, listening in for the product I want.

Also, length of notes helps. Generally, I find longer bass notes work well with slightly punchier (but can still be organic sounding) kicks and vice versa. Great tutorial though

i did subscribe to computer music magazine and always looking out for free sample packs to source most of my audio. then it just takes a lot of digging to find one that is right for your track. if you find the right kick sound i find i don't have to do much to mix it well.
