Good Piano AU?

What is a good piano AU for logic? I haven't found any so far, and I would like to find some. Thanks.

Re: Good Piano AU?

Why not try one of the many pianos included in the EXS24 instruments?
They all sound fantastic, its simply a matter of a little EQ, reverb, and some subtle modulation to get it to where you want.

If you purchased Logic it should have come with a whole bunch of sampled instruments that you can use. Add EXS24 to a channel strip, then look on the far right hand side in the library for "keyboards", or "pianos" or something like that.

If you can't find it there then just open up EXS24 and look for the three green dashes "- - - " above the cutoff knob. Click on that and then look around the folders for pianos.

Re: Good Piano AU?

If your using logic go to Channel Strip Settings > Pianos. There's a nice collection there.

What do you think Piano VSTs or AUs are then? Samples of course!

Ivory is probably one of the best I've heard but I don't own it. I have NIs Alicia's Keys and it's alright... it has a very metallic sound to it because of the piano that was modelled. Do a google search and listen to some samples on youtube to get a better idea of which one you like.

Re: Good Piano AU?

I have NI's "The Giant" (bought it on the sale they had... it might've ended already, dunno) and you can get a pretty fantastic range with it. From super spacey to up close and harsh, it can do a lot of different things.

Hands down Ivory in my opinion is the best.
XLN Audio - Addictive Keys is very good too.
Check those out.

*They both come in AU format as well. Cheers.

I do like Piamo and Piano One, they're both free as well.

Nexus (Yes, I said it), NI Alicia Keys and Ivory are probably the best I've heard of though.

I found "Pianoteq" to sound really nice. Its based fully on physical modelling. I think it comes as both VST and AU.

Re: Good Piano AU?

Truepianos.

I tried it once and sticked with it. Use some of the better reverb plugins to breathe some more space into it, the onboard reverb is not one of the best...
AFAIK it's also free for personal use.

Re: Good Piano AU?

I prefer Live's default one, also "air piano" ensemble for Reaktor by boscomac, but it's not very "realistic", still dig how it sounds.
