Nu jazz anybody?

Hey you'll
for few years i've been listening and playing what is so called nujazz but the thing is is that I never found a firm community of nujazz fans
most of the places ive been to consider lounge, nujazz, instrumental hip hop etc as something to hear in elevators!
actually their right but..
for me thats true Intelligent Dance Music.
whats this place opinion?

Re: Nu jazz anybody?

It's probably something I would like if I went out and found it.
I know this exists

Is Nujabes nu jazz, or is he just jazzy?

Re: Nu jazz anybody?

well
for me the best example for nujazz is l'orange
but there are lots of other good artists their sampling jazz records and attaching beats to make it more of a hip hop beat

oh really ? In my head nu jazz was jazz mixed with soul/hip-hop/electronic music.
But jazz before all, as in a band playing and improvisation.
I know genres are stupid etc. But l'Orange is definitely instrumental hip-hop in my book

this is what I had under the the label 'nu-jazz'

Re: Nu jazz anybody?

maybe..to me its still a bit of a mystery..
I hear lots of music, lots of artists, lots of labels but still can't get the clear definition..
I Don't really care what its called as long as I enjoy it but still
I can't find any audience at all to share this music with...
as you can see..I don't have much posts so I can't post links but you cant check

Enbe - delicate to
l'orange - know love
the silent partner - brass2rass
falside - alone together
mr. troy - tea time
funky notes - never knew

I would be glad if someone would listen to this track and can give a more clear direction and clear the foggy mist behind this thing called Nu-Jazz

Re: Nu jazz anybody?

Ok
now I see that there's lots of stuff runing around on IDMF (obviously)
so it leads me to another bit confused question
if there's so much activity going around in different forums and huge amounts of data and also big artists (according to wikipedia) such as the cinematic orchestra, jazzanova, Jagga Jazzist and even squarepusher all using jazz as a source for both inspiration and sounds...
the question is
where does nu jazz as a genre is "located" for contributing to electronic music today
and shouldn't nu-jazz or instrumental hip hop have a forum (or sub) that's dedicated to the genre?

Re: Nu jazz anybody?

I hate using genres too but its handy as reference sometimes. For me I always associate NuJazz/NuSoul with Brokenbeats & this is a good example I think:

Hefner - Dive Into You
