Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

i was never able to do anything productive in the morning, also in the day. i feel most comfortable at night, and thats when i feel i do best on being creative. its true that it varies if im on vacation, then i feel relaxed whenever

The thing I like about night is everybody else around has shut the f up. It's like I can finally hear myself think.

I agree, i suppose it depends on someone living situation.. But even when I lived at home still, i would be up until like 5 am working on music because literally NO ONE would be able to bug me.
Only my brother would get pissy when waking up for work in the morning, smelling weed coming from my room and my light still on.

But when I worked in the mornings, I would have to either stop and get shit taken care of, or FEEL like I needed to get shit taken care of and it wasnt helping the music at all.

I guess I'm lucky enough that I live in a quiet household. I can work any time of day so long as I make myself sit down and do it, a big part of that thanks to having a quiet family that doesn't feel the need to drag conversations on and on.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

I love producing music in the nigh time , I feel more creative.
Its a lot easier to focus since there are less outside stimulus disrupting you.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

Lately, the only time I have actually sat down to create music has been in the evening. If I am able, I really do enjoy pre noon sessions. A little bit of weed, tons of coffee, no one to bother me, overcast and drizzeling outside. Perfect... It is hard for me to get all those requirements met though: work, girlfriend, weather etc. I'm hoping to have some time like this over holiday, gods willing.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

Personally I really enjoy making music during the afternoon. Obviously it's not something that I can do whenever I want (especially when you have to work), but those 4-5 hours since 4 o'clock are the more productive ones for me.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

In general I do neither because I usually sleep with the gf and don't like getting up early and when I do have to get up it's because I have obligations. But I guess late night I at least have done. It, can be pretty chill for sure.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

My music is very dark and chill so I tend to do most of my writing at night in my room with most of the lights off. I love creating the atmosphere for my music in my room, I guess I'm a little weird.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

Mostly in the evening if I can, or early night. I'm never awake enough mentally in the morning to work then. And too late at night, I just feel like chilling. An ideal day for me would be 12 midday to 10pm (or thereabouts). With breaks obviously. Can only do this on the odd weekend day when I'm not working and otherwise busy. Usually just have to make do with an hour here and there.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

Gotta be late at night for me. Once I've cleared normal life off the plate, I feel like I can really dive in and dig deep late at night. Leads to more than a few groggy mornings though. hahaha

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

I'm actually most productive late at night. Even though I never get the chance to stay up late because of school, I tend to get way more done late at night than I can get done in the morning. Usually in the morning I'll just kinda stare at a blank project lmao.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

I stay up all night most nights and then fall asleep at about 7 (on my off days, I built my class schedule around music making, game design does not take as much of my time)

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

I work a lot, 6 days a week9 to 10 hours a day

so I tend to do lots of stuff both in the morning and evenings (got no neighbours)
Evening is good for new ideas, you just release everything that happened during the day.
Morning is great for arranging, putting stuff together, but usually in the evening, I'm more sollicitated (family duties), early in the morning, I'm by myself, everyone's still sleeping.

Re: Producing in early morning vs late night

I am definitely a night person. When I work I will be up till about 1am working on music and then wake up at 7am. 6 hours of sleep or less club. When I don't work the next day, I will be up SUPER late. Sometimes to 7 or 8 am before I feel ready for some rest. Usually the more tired I get while making music, the more creative I get. I stop caring about small things so much and just make stuff that keeps me interested.
