Dude you're a master of ambience, now bass is great but the space between drops is just as necessary in builds and breakdowns. Tension and release and all that. Honestly I'd love to give it a go, maybe try remix one of your tracks or if you were feeling up to making a sample pack of sounds the evolve gradually, sounds that evoke a mood for other artists to utilise? It'd be cool if we could all draw on each others strengths like that, to counter our weaknesses. That way you could effectively feature in a few tracks, and something is created that wouldnt have... Which is awesome. It's a thought at least...

For instance, I reccomend everyone to go and download whatever sample packs are still available for Beat battles... Especially the bass orientated ones given the project, but anything and everything can generate inspiration. Well that's just my two cents...

Had completely forgotten Pinch even exists. Heard this track last time about 5-6 years ago. It's kinda funny how I didn't make music myself back then and didn't have an ear for music at all, so the track just sounded "cool", even on shitty headphones with not enough sub. Now when listening to it, it's sort of a wtf-experience to realize how even underground dubstep used to be a lot more minimal years ago, and how the standard "colour" of these tunes was much closer to brown rather than pink. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I feel like ug-bass music these days is basically that instead of some brostep snare piercing your ears, there are overly loud amen break or 808 hi-hats that will do it.

I feel that this forum should have tag rewards, one of them needs to be the oatbag award for anyone who contributes close to or as much as oatbag has.

Re: 60 Hz Undergrund

There are a ton of people here making this forum rawk - that's just how it should be! Nobody needs a special tag (well the legit admins and mods probably do) to make things happen. Check out the Beat Battles that have been running for a loooong time.

Was looking for an inspiring vocal sample to use to create a tune and came up short, but I do have a song I've been wanting to remix for like 4 years!

Thanks, man..most kind of you to say that..I'll sincerely flattered..though perhaps a bit too modest to take that compliment on face value. Still, I appreciate the sentiment..really.

You must be psychic..as it so happens, one of the things I'm currently working on is something along the lines of what you proposed / suggested..a sample pack of sorts..a collections of long, evolving drone track beds, that can be used as the backdrop to a track..or sampled in a production. The project is the first step of a plan I've been toying with for a while now..to produce sample packs / Kontakt libraries for sale. It's early days yet, so..with that in mind..I intend to release the first few packs for free..whenever they are completed.

Regarding what you said..about "..feeling up to making a sample pack of sounds the evolve gradually, sounds that evoke a mood for other artists to utilise"..care to expand on that a little move via the PM system on here? Let me know what you're thinking and we can get into it in detail a little more.

Re: 60 Hz Underground

Finally hit on something that will comfortably form a track basis. Effort 5 since this was announced. Spent too much time tring to fit into a 60hz genre. Same old rule remembered...do what you do best and if it works it works. Build it end they shall cometh!
In short checked out various genres mentioned in the thread and nothing was flowing. Furthermore started believing this was going to be a dustep medaly....after liking what I heard tonight, it's going to be something of a modern dub chillout track. Been watching American God's this week...so I am anticipating something Dark, reflective, lots of low end bass drives and a slow melodic beat.
Vocal wise...thing izotopes vocalsynth may get a dusting off! @[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

I made about a half dozen before landing on the finished track for Bangerz. Modern dubby chillout sounds just perfect : ) Dark/reflective *thumbs up*

Re: 60 Hz Undergrund

I've been messing up with some sub tones when I saw this thread and I think I have something that can be ready before the deadline (finger crossed), so I'm in.

Quick question: do we have to send mastered tracks or do we have to follow the -6dB, nothing on the master bus rule?

Submit it ready to go. This is more a for fun community project than a proper release. I won't be altering songs at all.

Re: 60 Hz Undergrund

So, no special requirements, such as 6 dB headroom and nothing on the master? Post as ready to go track?

Re: 60 Hz Undergrund

I've gotten a couple PMs looking for clarity and it's hard because I really want to leave lots of room for creativity and to have lots of you folk be able to participate in the project. So, for what it's worth:

I want you to be able to say you made a legit attempt at making 'bass music' whatever that is, and you are proud to show your compatriots this result. If you genuinely don't know what it means, skim the above documentaries, listen to some of the recommended labels and put some effort in. If you do those things, we're going to have some awesome results!

If you are still confused (and that's ok) please don't hesitate to PM me!

If you really really really need more rules, google Deep Dubstep and just make that
