Hi everyone.
Here's an attempt to proper Techno. I'm still learning the ropes so don't be too harsh
Enjoy!

Re: [Techno] The Underground

I like the build in and the break at 1:35ish.

The drop at around 2:35 was nice...

The kick and bass might need turning down just a bit.

Nice change at around 4 mins.

Not really any other crits except a bit of mastering work on the bass and kick.

Top work man...

Re: [Techno] The Underground

I liked the track!
Not too many elements, and that's what I like.
Maybe next time even less elements? Minimal!

So Good work!
Especially the part that starts on 4 minutes.. I want to hear more of that!

Re: [Techno] The Underground

It's a touch on the cheesy side of things, but for someone who's "learning the ropes" it's really good!!

The string motifs are really something that belongs in late 90's trance and tech-trance and the build up in the first section seems a smidgen too long to hold the listeners suspense.

Mix wise, I like the balance in all areas except the very high frequencies of the hat (like about 8kHz+), it's just a bit too high and has a small amount of "ear bleeding hiss" to it then is needed for clarity.
Keep in mind that as you master tracks (or put compressors on the master channel) the higher frequencies can cause really sharp hissing if there even slightly over seasoned.

I love where the kick is in the mix, it's right up front driving the track, and the skittish (like Volume LFO's?) FX on the strings are a really creative and cool element.

Shows a lot of creativity and promise!

Re: [Techno] The Underground

Yes it's actually the 2nd real Techno track that I dare to show. I'm only diggin'it a few months from now but even if I know my DAW enough to put some sounds together, I did many many many other terrible attempts at Techno. I posted this on some other forums and this 90's remark seems to be pretty accurate! I wasn't listening to Techno then, but the 90's are currently coming back, aren't they?
You're defintely right about the high frequencies and the effect was only an automation with the cutoff on a string.

Thanks a lot for your time!

Re: [Techno] The Underground

good but, tensions last too long and are too quiet, also beat kicks in too quietly which gives away dilettantism , you need either cymball or drop to introduce beat,
i aslo would suggest keep 1 percussion going on during tension but lowpassed (if kick) or highpassed or just lowered if other

Few artistic decisions that I don't feel so much, like the vocals, and I think the strings could be used a little more sparingly too. Also, it feels like there is quite a lot of reverb on several of the elements and it feels a bit washed out for me.

Other than that technically has a lot of merit. Oh and I like the synth that comes in after the second breakdown.

Re: [Techno] The Underground

This feels more like tech trance than techno to me, the groove feel quite straight and without the strings it would quickly sound loopy. That said I love the drop and rhythm at 2.25 and again at 4.59.

For your second track it's very good, keep at it.

Re: [Techno] The Underground

Pretty simplistic but still a great track. Great breakdown and I don't think the kick is too loud imo.

Re: [Techno] The Underground

@ SwagPimp : Thank you! Well it took me many attempts before I dare to show it, and this is only the 2nd time. As you can read, some people think it's not 100% Techno so yes, I still need to learn how to make it sound like it should be.
Thanks to all of you, your comments will help.
