Re: Being a video game composer

I am currently working on a breakcore kinda style track using a bunch of tim and eric samples . pretty cool to hear someone else here wanting to do something similar.

Re: Being a video game composer

i think it's a lot of fun sampling from nes games. i think the music from those games had a big influence on me. and probably had an impact on me getting into electronic music. that 8 bit sound can't be beat. i use a lot in my tracks but have never done something purely chiptune style i guess. i will have to try sometime.

Re: Being a video game composer

Koji Kondo is my hero, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is what originally got me into making music (I know it sounds odd). You could play whatever you wanted on that ocarina and I made some sweet melodies with such a limited selection. It prompted me to pick up a real instrument and.. well... from there it goes on. Point is, I love video game music, as much as any other genre. Especially the Zelda series. All of the music needs to fit a specific atmosphere.

On a side note, I love how Koji stated that his favorite compositions were actually the little shop and the like areas.
