Recording Vinyl for Digital DJing

Im recording vinyl through an average Pioneer home stereo amp into my MOTU 828 line ins. I'm getting a -18DBFS peak with everything cranked. Should I use the MOTU preamps to record or should I just boost a tad with a clean limiter in my DAW to get the recordings up to more modern standards? Or just adjust accordingly in my DJ software as I mix?
