Re: Make drums stereo?

drums should be mono theoretically, if your talking about add with to them then stereo enhancers but not on kick snare/clap hats i like to add a bit of with to closed hats in general but op hats i mainly keep mono.
but all in all drums keep mono

Re: Make drums stereo?

Eq'd/filtered reverbs, delays, chorus.. You will want to keep the lower frequency parts of the track centered and allow the effects to breath more, or widen more as you go up the frequencies. You can use a big wide reverb on a kick, if ya going for that sound. just need to eq of filter out the low so the mud is tamed, or process those frequencies separately as mono.

if working with a loop, you can also draw in panning automation, so the kicks stay mono, and then pan the highways and snares or whatever further out.

Re: Make drums stereo?

Pan a sample hard left and a clone hard right onto another mixer track, process separately. True stereo. Bonus, sum back into a single track when done with your stereo processing for unified reverb, delay, etc.

Also, if you're using drumaxx in FL studio (I haven't broken it out in a while, but I've done cool stuff with it back when I didn't have a second HD I could store samples on), you have a stereo drum source. Electro kits are the most standard for EDM, but I've used the acoustic kits too, especially the hats.

Also, check this out.

Layer and pan (or counter-pan), reverb, delay...

Re: Make drums stereo?

Thanks guys. I was using some old breaks and they were in crappy low-fi mono. I tried to stereoize some of them after the fact and it didn't work very well. However, the tips in here were great for some other stuff. High-speed autopan really made a big difference in my last tune. Thanks
