The Lpd8 is a great little controller as far as the pads go, but I found switching between scenes cumbersome (it involved 3 or 4 button presses) and eventually the 4 x 2 row of buttons wasn't enough - especially when most drum racks come with 16 slots. But for it's price - excellent value for money.
If you were to spend a little more - I'd go with zyklon & suggest the PadKontrol too. Nice pads, 16 scenes (easily accessible), a very decent touchpad with roll and flam functions...it's a great controller actually.
This. A quick gander on Ebay (UK) and there are plenty used ones kicking about for about the price of some of those other ones new. It's a pretty old bit of kit now, and really popular - it's worth seeing if you can find one.
Perhaps it's more popular in the uk? I checked the us listings and there are two posted for close to the new price and that's it. I'm seriously considering the mpk mini as it would save me quite a bit of space in my dorm, I wouldn't need to have my full 49 key keyboard.
