Being an American I can confirm this phenomenon is true. I teach first year college students and they all just discovered "molly" and EDM.

But about repitition, I feel like a lot of these tips are too extreme. Make no bars identical? That's hyper surgical crackhead level editing. A trick I abuse heavily is making all (or almost all) the percussion switch to following key parts of the melody on the end of verses/choruses for extra emphasis. (This is assuming you're using verses-chorus-etc structure but I don't see why you couldn't do it at the end of a major section of something more build-uppy [like trance structure I guess {I'll post an example later maybe}])
