Just read over on the Ambient Online forum that Edgar Froese, the founder and front-man of the legendary Tangerine Dream, died suddenly in Vienna last Tuesday (20th) as a result of a pulmonary embolism.
I've always been a huge fan of his band's work..as well as that of early fellow member, Klaus Schulze...both had a huge musical influence on me and the music I make. I get his passing mightn't mean a thing to a lot of people, but to me it's a great loss, as I'm sure it is to anyone else who was and still are into TD.
I grew up listening to Tangerine Dream, and was lucky enough to see them perform live in London in 1986. I remember them ending with Going West, followed by Yellowstone Park with Edgar playing electric guitar, and finally a track from Underwater Sunlight, which was their last decent album IMO. Edgar leaves behind a huge discography and a deserved reputation as one of electronic music's greatest ever artists.
