As most of you (and some of you might not) know Perm has backed out of IDMf affairs, and good luck to him! This includes the netlabel as well, leaving me "in charge" of something should have largely been a more community effort. I still want to head down that road. I would like to oversee affairs and add my opinion but I'm through with the overly pretentious take this netlabel has had in the past on music.
We have such a great community of electronic music artists, there's no reason for us to be struggling with flourishing, except for want of direction and motivation. I've reflected on a lot of the stuff we've done over the past months and have seen some of our mistakes, and one of the main mistakes is that I feel we've been squelching our own artistic voice in fear of rushing something that may not be of the highest quality. This is a bullshit mentality.
If I'm just rambling and/or you don't know what I'm talking about, maybe you haven't been following it that closely, which is fine, it's just a forum. But there are a lot of people who see it as more than just a forum, and I would like to continue helping toward that idea, because what started out as something really good seems to be heading down a road of stagnancy. I choose not to let this happen.
To curb this, I've decided to call upon the regulars of this forum who have a serious mindset of releasing music and getting some buzz around their names, using this forum as a ground. If you are a regular here you deserve this. I know who you are. Recently perm turned down some albums from a few of our best artists who post everyday in the listening booth contributing and this hurts to think about. It's nothing against perm because he has time issues and had his own system of running things. I sort of envision something new coming out of our downfall over the past 6 months, and I think it's going to be good. Things like that won't happen anymore.
What this means:
1. More releases from artists on the forum
2. More updates and therefore traffic through the forum
3. New artists and people
4. More members added to the team of contributors and promoters
Here is my personal checklist to complete over the next month or so.
- call for new artists thread to drop FINISHED albums into our email (label.idmf@gmail.com) or talk to me personally on this forum.
- call for mods and people who are on board for this project
- reduce subforums in all areas of the forum
- donation system to upgrade the soundcloud to be able to have more releases
- shorten all soundcloud tracks to 1 minute previews and direct people to the download link to obtain the full album (to save room on sc)
- design a SICK new label layout to reflect the incoming ONSLAUGHT of amazing artists who are destined to see an "IDMf artist" tag under their name.

We have the opportunity right now to become a very prolific, community-driven, Creative Commons netlabel.
If you have any input on this please post in this thread. I can't do this alone
well i havent been here long, but ive come to love the community, and it helps expand my music.

Thanks man. I foresee this being a place that welcomes new artists who are serious about what they do, while still stressing the quality releases that we always have. I think both aspects will come together nicely.
As for what you can help me with... well for now brainstorming and elaborating on any of the ideas I've posted, or coming up with something new. I'm looking for any suggestions people have at the moment.
I'm another relative newbie here as well but I'm up for helping out how ever I can.
I'm in on the Mod front obviously, also know some people who are cracking Mastering engineers if you'd like me to ask them about doing some work on Label releases.
Would also be up for taking part in the discussion about how to minimise the number of sub-forums on here. Have a few ideas for organising things but would obviously like some feedback as to whether they would work or not.

May even get an album finished one day.....
Cool, post your subforum ideas to the "fix the studio" thread (if you haven't already. i seem to remember reading suggestions from you before..)
And yes talk to the engineers. As of right now we don't have the capital to pay for engineering but I could see this being an option in the future.
I'd really like to help with anything at all Fid. I am taking a break from writing anything myself but would like to be involved in the label in any other way I can be of help. I'll try think of some things, but if you think of anything send me a PM

I'll put the word out, I'm sure at couple of my friends will be up for it. I'm seeing them next week so I'll know by then who is up for what. I pretty sure one of them maybe up for it on the grounds of being good advertising, the other isn't expensive I'll let you know.

With the donation set up I would like to try getting a deal with a resident engineer if possible who will cut IDMf a deal if we continue bringing and sending them business, as a trade agreement. If possible, of course. Let me know if get any leads and I'm more than willing to write or talk to someone.

Tell me how to help, can help in most areas, am willing to do anything to keep this going as an upbeat place to exchange ideas and music and release as much good, interesting music as possible.

New/old, doesn't matter. As long as it's completed.* This includes mastering and album art, and quality checked for any major mix errors or other various flaws that sometimes get overlooked through this process. Please put your best foot forward here.
I am currently working on making a more coherent netlabel website.
*Also, if it's released under another label, make sure it's all right with them if we release it. I want absolutely no legal complications with other labels.
This post makes me happy ....I was starting to think this place was gonna fall apart , and no Perm. WTF? I had no idea, good luck to him!
Anyways I feel the best way I could ever contribute is maybe listen to mixes and help on that front, I don't have too many skills artistic wise!
Also I am doing a couple releases this year and if they don't find a home than I will send them your way and see what you think
...If you ever need anything just ask and I will try my best at whatever it is but I won't lie I am getting swamped with projects, by the end of the year though I am going to back off everything and take some time off, that would be great time for me to get more involved around here
There is a high talent pool here in most aspects of everything, if shit doesn't shape up that would be a damn shame!
