Just curious to see if there are any other fans of Nurse With Wound out there, and if so, what your favourite albums are, maybe you have a NWW-related story to share, maybe they've inspired you to create some like-minded musical surrealism? My atrocious grammar aside, Nurse With Wound were (along with Current 93, SPK and Lustmord) one of the first industrial groups I ever heard, and while I can't say it's been an easy relationship for the last twenty or so years of listening, it certainly has been an eventful and rewarding one.
I say "industrial", but it's not exactly an all-encompassing term for what Steven Stapleton and his band of not-so-merry men and women have been creating for the last 35 or so years. It is, however the best catch-all term for this sometimes hilarious, sometimes frustrating, sometimes downright unsettling but always inspired musical game of Exquisite Corpse they've been playing since the late 70s that I can think of.
Soliloquy For Lilith is probably my pick for my favourite NWW album - a sprawling drone masterpiece rich in texture. It's by no means indicative of what they normally do - to be honest, I'm not sure there is an album in their massive discography that actually is, but to me it's a creative high-water mark among a history of seemingly carelessly dropped, yet finely crafted, jewels - Homotopy To Marie, Thunder Perfect Mind, Spiral Insana - to be honest, I can't think of anyone else like them, and there's a lot to be said for uniqueness.
I met Andrew Liles and some of the other guys back stage when I played at Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig a couple of years back with Satori. They seemed like nice blokes. I'd never seen them play before but I enjoyed their set and videos a lot.
