Intro To Synthesis

Haha. I watched part 1 last night and yeah it's old as shit but if you're new to synths, it's absolutely ESSENTIAL viewing. I learned some stuff I had no clue about.

Re: Intro To Synthesis

There's another series buried here in the Tutorial section somewhere...

I watched these a few years ago when I first joined, really helped me visualize things better. I should watch again, I bet I missed stuff the first time around.

Re: Intro To Synthesis

I want all those synths he's got. Man, so retro! Painfully so! I'd give up my daw and interface just to have a decent couple of analog Rolands or Oberheims and a 8 track cassette mixing board. At least for a while. Might be fun.

Re: Intro To Synthesis

Also I came across this the other day, I think it is a very good intro to understanding not only how different parameters of a synth work, but how to train your ear to identify certain sounds. Its basically a piece of software which teaches you, and then quizes you and gets you to identify and make the sound with its in built synth.

However it is fairly expensive, check it out its called "Syntorial"

Re: Intro To Synthesis

Sylenth is great - gives various sounds though they are very simple to make. Youtube has not much videos on this article but they are pretty enough for a good start.

Re: Intro To Synthesis

Yeah I just found this searching to see if it was already posted. It's still very good, the fundamentals haven't changed

Plus I love that old school cable access style video

"I'm cuckoo for synth puffs!"
