Re: Change scale on a vocal?

Not really gonna happen, unless you like the sound of autotunig. A fifth is a long way to go up, it would sound (slightly) better if you went the fourth down.

Rerecording is your best option, but I get the feeling that's not an option.

You could also try reharmonizing it in Cm, but I also think thats not what youre looking for.

Anyway, goodLuck

Re: Change scale on a vocal?

Im going to chop up the vocal so autotune is my best option i guess, any VSTs i can use for this? Ive never really used autotune before...

+1 Melodyne all the way..Izotope Nectar2 and Waves Tune can do that same thing if you prefer them.

Re: Change scale on a vocal?

Melodyne if you want a nature sound.

Auto tune if you want the more signature t-pain vocal sound.

Personal preference would be Melodyne, but it is confusing.

Just look around.

Re: Change scale on a vocal?

You know... Fm and Cm are only different by one note. I would see if I could get it work without any editing.

Church. Just make sure you edit that note if it occurs. Or just see if it fits anyway. Easy, right?

It might work, but the tonic is a fifth/fourth away. You;d have to be pretty slick about how you harmonize it, if you want the same melodic feel.

Re: Change scale on a vocal?

It depends if you want to transpose the whole thing or just switch modes to C. Very simple with Melodyne either way and if you know how to use it properly it won't sound too auto-tuney. Patience helps.

Re: Change scale on a vocal?

The way I do it is to just use the second pitch nob in the channel settings for the vocal. Set it to "Auto" rather than "Resample" or it'l stretch. You can get a good range of different pitches this way without stretching the vocal. Sometimes it can sound odd, but most the time it should sound alright.

As for changing the vocal sample directly on the piano roll, I'm not sure it can be done. You can try using the Newtone plugin, but I always found that it screwed up the sound.
