Controlled Bleeding

I can't believe I slept on these guys for so long. I had one of their tracks from the compilation White Eye of Winter Watching, but hadn't really looked into their history. Apparently they were so sporadic musically that they had trouble keeping a fanbase (and probably didn't care), and the remaining members are still making music.

I made a super cool Spotify playlist of their stuff, in case anyone is interested in checking them out. They seem to cover beautiful ambient & drone, harsh noise, industrial rock (not a fan, but that's still cool), metal, folk, dark ambient and even some chamber sounding shit. Very worth checking out.

Re: Controlled Bleeding

This is great! Thanks for sharing this. I remember having "Part One" on a mix CD a few years back and was just taken back by it.

Re: Controlled Bleeding

I can recommend "Songs From The Ashes", if you're looking for one of Controlled Bleeding's more ambient collections, and reasonably dark ambient at that.

Re: Controlled Bleeding

Yeah, after hearing a couple songs back in the day (don't remember which, probably "In Penetration" and one or two others) it didn't really stick, but recently I came to realize how all over the place their output was, and now I think it's pretty great stuff! Definitely makes me wish more people working in the industrial subset these days had more of a drive to experiment with different sounds, and by that I definitely don't mean by throwing in a Brostep breakdown, or "experimenting" with Hardstyle Trance.

Re: Controlled Bleeding

Scourging ground was pretty cool. I think the singer sounds kinda like Meatloaf. The song has like a dark christian melody to it.
