Whuddup guys,
wondering your opinion on this, as there are many different opinions on this subject
I personally just switched to early mornings (on summer vacation ) and tbh i swear i can see an improvement in maybe my creativity, or something in my songs.
Yet late night studio sessions are pretty amazing,
how bout you guys.
I find I get better concepts and arrangement in the morning, when I am well rested and have some coffee. Late night is when I trypically screw around and try new things. Overall I prefer mornings, but then again I am a morning person.
My ideal would be getting up early, coffee, digging around the internet for new tunes for an hour, then producing...late lunch...back to the studio until dinner time.
I really prefer working in the morning these days. Also, with a pretty full schedule if I can get my ass up I can get a few hours in before work. Chances of after work are typically pretty slim which only leaves days off.
I find I'm less lazy when it comes to mixing, sound design, and adding in effects and automation and such early in the morning, but lack ideas, whereas I'm full of ideas, but a tad lazy at night. So, I usually take my chances and produce late at night. Sure, I usually have to go back and clean up the project in the morning and add in all the automation and effects I meant to add the night before, but didn't. It's usually worth it though.

i get home and im dead, so morning is becoming the only option for me..

if only we didnt have to work........
I have the option to work less, if I wanted to, without being in danger of not being able to get the work back 6-9 months down the road...might have to tighten my belt and take some time off for music : )
Damn...never worked at a restaurant...I know that can be rough though. I've worked in a lot of delis though...LOL...that could be exhausting if it was busy. I basically came home on weekends and passed out in my chair with a movie on and a half drunk beer.
entirely depends on my mood really. sometimes, and mostly, late into the night/very early next morning. and other times very much so in the morning onwards. it' really mood not time dependent for me

Same here..it all depends on how my mind is and where it's at when it comes to music. I don't have a time as such, as it is all the time, with snippets of life in between.
Well, since I often work 8 - 12 hours in a row (I'm a workaholic when it comes to music and nothing else ), it's pretty difficult not to hit both night and morning sometimes. Though, now when I have to start work and school again, I have no other choices than one or two hours in the evening.
I think it depends on the project, which time of the day that fits the most. Ambient/triphop/dub seems only to be a night-thing to me.
But like shit last night i threw a kegger and fell asleep at 430, well this morning, woke up at 8 got mcds breakfast and now i really really wanna work on a electro track ive been doing lately,
but i have SUCH A BAD FUCKING HANGOVER.

I find myself more relaxed at night since I have already completed the day and have nothing left to do. In fact, most of the projects I start are at night.
But then again I guess it's all personal preference.
Good question IMO it depends on your schedule (work etc) but for me the best time is around 11am-1pm im full of energy and I can play my music pretty loud.
the only problem I can think of for late night sessions is that your most likely tried from the day and you get lazy.

not if you sleep all day and are awake at night.
I used to work mainly from 5pm so i'd be up usually until at least 5am, if not later.
I work between 2 AM and 6 AM. So for me it's early mornings when I come home, sleep untill about 6 PM, eat something, play some xbox and then back to producing untill work!
