"i live in fucking asia" lol. fucking asia.

it seems like asia would be a good place for cheap midi controllers since that's where they're all made?

If you get an older m-audio one it should fit the bill. Ebay is a good bet.

I always check the used section on guitar center, musician's friend, amazon, sweet water, ebay, and recently got a couple ridiculously cheap controllers used on reverb.com

Just checked Ali Express because they're Chinese based, so shipping would probably be a lot faster for you.
This came up within that price range.

I really like the korg microkey series. Also got a nice voucher for a bunch of free software downloads with mine.

Hahaha, you'd think so but music gear is sooo fucking expensive here, at least where I live in Malaysia. Apart from things being expensive, it's also difficult to find good places with music gear, especially second hand.

Korg LPK 25 [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]
is more or less in your price range. I bought one when I was low on money but wanted a midi keyboard. I think it may be amongst the cheapest on the market. It is small and good for what you pay for albeit you are not paying for much - no surprises there, it is velocity sensitive (although there is only really playing very soft, medium, and very hard), but it has continued to have a place on my desk as a quick way to bash out musical ideas.

It also has a bonus arpeggiator which can be fun.

I have also noticed that pawn shops periodically have reasonably priced midi keyboards. Not sure if there are any problems with the keys, but you might try Ebay if you have none in your area.

Enjoy.

I live in Asia and I feeeeel your paaaaain. Gahd.

I found some links through Google ( can't post links rite nao, i'm a n00b)
But if you google the keywords "midi keyboard diy" there are like literally 627,000 results that tell you how to make your own midi keyboard.
I gave up like 3 minutes of my time to do this for you, but the forum will not allow me to select the best links to show you. You can figure it out though.

If you're going into making it DIY, you'd be in luck -- in most parts of Asia that I know, mechanical *parts* are super cheap, and finished * products* are super pricey. Globalism Capitalism Nadadadi yey.

Hope it helps.
