Thanks guys for the welcome back.
This thing looks like it's been going well.
Yeah there's been a steady flow of participants and subs, been really good. The standard is way up impo. There's been some positive evolution in the 3 rules and seems to be working well. Hope you get a chance to listen through...must be about 14+ BBs for you to listen too lol. Unless you've been secretly ghosting in quietly.
Bugger about the arthritis, broke my elbow in several places when I was 15. Still got bolts and pins in it decades on. I hope like me the arthritis subsides, it should get better. I find it tends to play up during damp weather, but keeping it warm helps. But then we are all different and the leg is a different limb completely so my empathy with you.
Hey guys, I'm kinda bummed that I missed out on this. I started on a weird abstract thing and couldn't quite get it sounding alien enough... then my whole household got sick and we've just been one snotty ball of cuddling fevers.
I'm loving what's come out of this though! I'll definitely be casting my vote if nothing else
Oh man I left today to mix this thing but got sick and slept all day so I'll just post as is. I'm posting a sliver past deadline too, 45 min that is, I'll leave it up to Neuralsphare to say if i still qualify.Historically, that's been tolerated.
BPM is 95, VST is TAL 101 Bassline for some alien bassy filter sweeps and lenght is (supposed to be 5:06), my render gave it an extra 3 sec handle, I dont know why.
Cheeky, straightforward and simple, reminds me of a few NDS game soundtracks, and maybe some prog like Focus. I would have liked some more creative sound design/sample mangling and effects.
Woefully short; 11 seconds longer (and a little more polished) and this might have had my vote! Pretty creative, minimal/lazy ravey hip hop, very much my cup of tea.
Fucking hell this is good. Reminds me of classic Ram stuff. The low bass sounds a bit unwell, and there are a few bits here and there that I'd mix a little differently (a sharper fade here, a -2dB tweak there), but that's just nitpicking. Perhaps not the strongest alien vibe, but a very strong track.
Heavy Bogdan-style breakcore IDM. Could have done with a slightly cleaner or much more lofi mix, imo. I like the shiny shimmering stuff but some of the distorted drums and whatnot sounded a bit muddled and confuddled. Very good, very creative stuff though, and definitely on point.
Very smooth, very solid, but maybe a bit loopy and unambitious overall. I could have done with a couple of beatless sections and maybe another section in a different key.
If I can't split my vote between MFXxx and Neuralsphere, I'd have to go for Neuralsphere. They're both equal in terms of quality/creativity, but MFXxx's track has the edge in terms of being on-point with the rules and theme, while Neuralsphere's has the edge in terms of production and wow factor, imho.
Sorry I have been a bit out of it for a couple of days, worked myself to exhaustion quite literally... fun times. Nothing is exempt in my opinion from being voted, it's up to the voter. The issue with 3 seconds is sort of nibbling at me, I would've attempted to re render it, or re work it because I have messed up anxiety but issues like this should be understood and I appreciate it's just 3 seconds out (Maybe it's a dithering/bleeding transient thing in your render? I personally had to adjust the loop mode for patterns to cut everything out after the pattern ended - I still don't fully understand it...)
I've just gotten round to hearing all the submissions and it's so cool to hear all the different ways to manipulate sound and other peoples creativity - Thank you for your efforts, all of it is inspirational. I'm late coming in to give constructive feedback, and have lagged giving feedback for the last BB (Where have the last 2 weeks gone?!) I will be sure to make the time to do this properly as soon as I don't resemble a swirling dervish.
I'm split between MFXxx, brb and White noise... If it comes to a tie I will cast a deciding vote I suppose? Or being the host can I just split my vote? I am seriously torn between these due to them all operating in different tempo's... and wish I could split myself in three instead of having to pick (I know I can only pick one but still!)
Also, there was a mistake in the line up. White Noise's Sub - hope this fixes it... otherwise, scroll back further (it was posted just before MFXxx's Sub)
I feel like I've entered the twilight zone being compared to the Goliath that is RAM... Are you sure you're listening to my track? I didn't get round to finishing it in terms of length or final mixdown/master, I didn't even get to make it sound as alien as I intended (Was toying with resampling my voice and layering with vocodex fx... had this funky idea of a mothership beaming up people in elevators, causing retaliation that escalates repeatedly until the Earth does a 'FUCK YOU' type drop which there was a part of, towards the end*)
I will go for a herbal smoke... re listen and cast my final vote. You guys rock, love BB and thanks for making the effort with my sample pack (never done anything like it before, glad I didn't :notafinga: it up)
*might revisit this and try pull it off as I just didn't have the time on this one at all. Thanks for all the feedback though, I never thought of myself as being that good (not fishing for anymore compliments but just saying... I kind of see my stuff as mediocre try hard type shit)

I don't hear mediocrity in your stuff at all. My only criticisms are in the mix, in terms of composition/structure what you're doing is awesome. I like dnb, I don't own a hell of a lot of it and I'd be way out of my depth discussing anything released in the last 10 or 15 years, but this track stands up next to the contemporary stuff I've heard in recent months. Now maybe if I was a DoA snob I'd be offended by it for some arbitrary seeming reason, idk.
Really impressive sound scaping and mood changes... the use of an external instrument in this track pushes the samples to another level and the track as a whole flows very well. I think you 'alienised' everything in the sample pack, great technical aspects with the voice synth and beat structure. This is something I want to listen to in my car when I'm cruising about at night catching glimpses of the night sky on a darkened country road.
I'm sorry I voted late, I've been a bit tardy this time round but should be a bit more on form in the coming fortnight.
I've been meaning to ask about being able to download Beat Battle subs to potentially make a mash up/mix of the whole lot (Well 2 weeks worth at a time not every BB ever)... Considering the Club Bangers thread I might wait until after the end of next month to add anything more to my growing collection of unfinished projects - as I want to try give something back to the community. Just a heads up for the future, unless you fancy PM'ing me downloads of your submissions meanwhile so I can start messing around? (Hope I'm not being cheeky by asking)
Great work all round though everyone, really liking these competitions and the vibes both musically and otherwise. Looking forward to the next one
