Re: Can You define Sound Design?

Are you doing anything weird with the samples? If you are just playing them back as is, I'd say no. But if you are changing them, yes!

Re: Can You define Sound Design?

Is this meant to be a serious question? I mean, has the OP actually thought this through before asking here for thoughts on the subject?

Just search it online..it's not that hard at all. In fact, here's a link to get you started: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click here to register]

Sorry..it's not my intention to be rude to anyone, but I honestly think the answers to rudimentary questions like this are basic common sense really and don't even need to be asked..just do a search online and there is more than enough detail out there to keep anyone reading on the topic of a long time.

Yes to all. If you are asking what it is to us as producers I can only say for certain on my behalf that it's everything that makes your sound as unique as your own fingerprint. Your methods of course will determine your own ability to attract mates and followers alike, So be sure to ask yourself "Do we really design sound or does sound design us?"

Re: Can You define Sound Design?

Probably tagging and choosing clip colors, since that was an option.

Re: Can You define Sound Design?

it is literally the two definitions of the words you just wrote combined into exactly what anyone would expect those two words, when combined, to mean. this is like asking me what room service is. it is someone providing service to your room. sound design is designing sound. kind of like how sandwich shops are shops that provide sandwiches. like how video editing is where you edit a video.

unless

Can You Define Sound Design, Richard Devine

is the name of your next album?

wasnt really trolling, was more like a cast into a underfished still pond with a fishing float and powerbait, or shotgun/barrell. however no use in denying how easy it is here to land and go home with your limit.

doing your own synthesis or sampling with extensive manipulation. Designing the sounds you will be using/making your own unique sounding instruments.
