A collection of free samples found on various IDMF threads and on other sites. If you have more to add to the list you can post them here / send me a link to the relevant thread or site. If you have something specific to say about a particular source (all their samples are crackly, have low bitrate, have dogs in the background etc.) then post it and I'll maybe add it in next to the link.
When downloading from other sites, make sure you're aware of any t&c's regarding the use of their samples.
If you know of any samples / links posted here that aren't free - please let me know so that the link can be removed. Especially for links marked [?] which are said to be free almost everywhere - but it's hard to verify.
Nice one man. There's a massive rim shot sample pack here as well, which I've found useful. It was posted by someone on a dubstep production forum, if I remember right.
On a vaguely related note, I read somewhere about a website which had a huge library of old film samples and movie dialogue from films which have expired copyright.
Unfortunately, Google isn't much help (I probably just can't hit on the correct key words). Does anyone know what I am on about and could point me in the right direction?

This should definitely be a sticky. Scyn, use your mod powers!
Also, here're a couple more I came across in my search for some more hat samples. They both have accompanying ESX24 mappings but you can just use the samples if, like me, you don't use Logic:
Free sample pack from AudioPorn Records - a collection of samples from Xilent, Shimon, Dilemn, High Maintenance, Fourward, James Marvel, Hybrid Minds and Mediks.
Download it from Audioporn's facebook page - search for AudioPorn Records.
The deeper I get into this production thing, the more I realize how important it is to not be dependent upon using other peoples sounds. Whether it relates to how you get your drums to sound a certain way, or programming your own synth, Learn to do it yourself.

Of course you must learn to do it yourself and not try to take shortcuts but it is foolish not to reference other people's work. An apprentice learns best from the master. Many people get stuck in this whole "I need to be original" bubble and completely ignore other people's work and this is a bad approach. Its not about reinventing the wheel every time you make a song, most of what can be done in music production-wise has already been done, it's about using what has been done in your own original way. Don't fall into that trap unless you are convinced that you will be next Aphex Twin and have 10+ years to burn working 10 hour days trying to reinvent the wheel.
HI guys, wondering if anybody has got good links for string samples. Im not really up for the big sampler packs because they are both expensive and take up a monumental amount of space. I was thinking more along the lines of movies from the 50's/60's, anyone know any good ones?
These are some random bits from stuff. Maybe they're useful. There are some Darkstar bits in this as well. The ones I remember doing with it are DS marked.
