[Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

I don't post much, I'm my worst critic/enemy.. Been really trying to hone my skills. I suck at mastering so it might sound over squashed.

But this so far is as close as I've come to really feeling like i'm getting somewhere.

If anyone would like to try their hand at mastering this, I can send ya the unprocessed mix down.

Any feedback would be super awesome and stuff...hope someone likes it and no one dies

Re: [Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

Firstly its late im tired, but I want to feedback as Im trolling through some threads.

I like the latter part of the track, its got a good vibe.
The kick is inconsistant and sounds too loud. Maybe your final master compression playing up with it.
I do like the bass ie 1min 58 secs and the interplay with the sounds there.
Needs some more work I think but like I said im tired. Overall a reasonable track. Just needs some attention to detail in the production of the track and the final mix ie complression.

Re: [Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah the kick is all in your face and shit. I make great powerful kicks, that I can't seem to tame always during the mix down. I think it's a issue with the studio space I have, not saying my skills don't need attention tho.

If you mean the kick is not consistent as in changes intensity/groove, that was done on purpose. But maybe too in your face as well and way to noticible too.

Re: [Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

You're definitely getting somewhere and I like the track.

The sounds you have chosen fits together and blend nicely.

As a matter of taste I would have loved if there were something more. Maybe some chopped up vocals. Not necessarily words but more vocal sounds as an extra "rhythmic" layer. This is of course totally subjective and just a thought that popped up in my head when I listened to the track.

Cheers

Re: [Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

Thanks!!

I actually had some vocals picked out for the track that I was going to add into the main drop.

I think i'll toss those in, add a slight bit more percussion and give it a go one more time at remixing the levels.

Thanks all for your feedback

Re: [Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

hi Agent,

def add some vocal elements, that would be awesome. There are some good components here but I felt the sparseness even before reading the other comments, at least in the first half. I like in particular the sweeps after the 2 minute mark. those are spot on. I would personally, if I were mixing this, EQ the top off that kick and look if it is being squashed too much by a compressor, but I also suck as masteringl so take that for what it is worth to ya. Just getting to the break and that panned metallic sound disrupts the quiet, maybe back it off a few Dbs. Very cool overall, nice work.

Re: [Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

Well I spiffed it up a bit...or made it worse idk..

added some vocals and a bit more percussion and tried to adjust the levels a bit.

Re: [Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

Listened to both versions. Latest versions is certainly getting there. I'm not that sure about techno music as such but I could picture this going down well enough on the dance floor...

cheers

Re: [Techno] Waxweather - Spasms

Thanks everyone!!

Mastering aside, I think this is some of my best work so far.

i figured I'd call it techno, but lately have just been labeling it "waxweather" and not paying genre much attention.
