Re: Pop/house on a rise?

House is always changing. Being popified, though, is not an advancement. It is the opposite of an advancement. And I cannot think of the word for it. And this is just another of those pop/"house" tracks with obnoxious irritating vocals, inane lyrics.

Re: Pop/house on a rise?

Honestly, house is basically pop at this point and will be for quite a while longer. I don't see 4x4 going away any time remotely soon. There will obviously be more underground subgenres of house out there, but look at artists like Keisza, with more minimal-sounding house behind their pop vocals.

I don't think House gets changed because of what Pop is doing at any given time. House is house, and when it gets popular Pop sucks some blood from it and a few Morgan Pages pop up who straight up fuze the two together. The genre itself stays right where it was though regardless of how loose the term becomes at the time.

Agreed though lol. Those lyrics....

That was my point. You just said it better than i did. House is still house. But one of the varieties is a poppy version of it.

Re: Pop/house on a rise?

Stuff like Krewella cracks me up. Two singers who don't even have a producer anymore and that's electronic music?? Pop is electronic anyway. Some ghost producer is responsible for the beats and chords behind every pop song. So everybody listens to electronic music and it's still indy? Like when someone hears "electronic music" there are like 'oh that's cool but it's not real music' or it's inferior somehow. But it's all electronic! The stuff that is actually called "electronic" is just the stuff embracing that and creating forward-thinking music. Look at Tycho. Just because he doesn't use lyrics he is labeled electronic music. But he does so much more. He does what any normal band does, on his own, plus more. So yeah, poppy electronic music is on the rise for sure, with electronic musicians like David Guetta selling out and pop "musicians" like Nicki Minaj exploiting producers.
