Good drum sampler/sequencer AU plugin for OSX?

Hey,

I'm looking for a drum sampler/sequencer plugin for OSX in AU format.

Requirements:

+ Able to import own WAV samples
+ Step sequencer
+ Simple and straightforward, no need for advanced features.

Anything else to recommend than Battery and Elecktroid?

battery has no sequencer. I'd say fxpansion geist, native instruments maschine or arturia spark, even if personally I love to use battery sequenced by my daw. all of the three I said have pretty advanced functions actually. if you can accept sequencing from your daw go with New Sonic Arts Nuance, it's a great sampler, simple but powerful, and has a 16 pads function for drums!

Your best bets are MASCHINE and GEIST 2 -- they are very different products / workflows, though, so check them out and see what you think. I own both and think both are great, but both also have setbacks and things I'd do differently if I was a designer. So it goes.

There isn't much else that can compete with those two, imo.

MOTU has a drum box with a sequencer called BPM which might suite your needs as well, but I have no experience with it.

Maschine, Maschine, Maschine, and Maschine.

Geist looks cool, gotta run it through its paces.

BreakTweaker by iZotope might be worth a look, albeit I personally haven't fallen in love with it, but many swear by it. Polyrhythms and microtiming/retrigger function. I think you should be able to get samples in there, but I've never bothered.

Techno starts with a capital 'T', as in TB-303 and TR-808.

Wow...my brain must just be ruined. I own Maschine.

Yea...if you can get an MK1 controller with a license for cheap and upgrade. That'd be the way to go for sure. Even if you don't use the controller. I use the software w/o the control more than the combo these days.

Maschine for the hardware, Geist 2 otherwise, imo
Although my experience with both is very limited tbh

For simple and fast sequencing I really like Xfer Nerve. It has a good step sequencer, wav import, it is simple & straightforward - and it has 16 pads and all the (very helpful) advanced features are easy to use and also do not need any additional processing power since all sample manipulations are baked into the sample.
I also use Breaktweaker, since I like the advanced features in step sequencer and layering, but it has a limited number of pads, and is much heavier on the CPU than Nerve.

Maschine and Battery 4 will be perfect for you.
