Re: Genre based on "mechanic textures"?

Sure man but most music now is only tagged with many subgenres like idm/industrial/abstract/Electronic.. so what I'm getting at I guess is that if you run a collective and maybe release the music of the artists that are a part of it under the same label, you don't need to invent a new genre name so much. You know, music like what the samurai music group releases is labeled under drum n bass /"140" /minimal, but in my mind I label it as "samurai music"

Re: Genre based on "mechanic textures"?

Usually a "glitch/idm" tag is sufficient imo. Honestly man, tracks like these have been around for awhile now, as you have noticed, and people still hear them all the time. Keep it simple, people will find it when it's good. Networking is more important than just labeling a very specific subjective aspect of a track into it's own genre. Also, I think it'd be pretty hard to just begin using a new sub sub sub genre name when you aren't the person pioneering the style, and even then it would probably still be hard depending on how dumb it sounded.

No offense but if somebody asked me if I was into Digital Mechatronics I would pour water on their head

Some cool stuff going on in some of your tracks, keep up the good work.

Anyway that's another debate altogether and it's not very important.

Re: Genre based on "mechanic textures"?

You seem really stuck on this but it's not going to happen. The people that make music like this generally don't have an interest in labels or they already identify with a group or genre. They're not looking for more or different classification.

I think you're the only person here that cares about identifying tracks in the same style, otherwise people would be responding better to your suggestions instead of telling you that it's fine like it is.

I have hundreds of hours of music similar to what you're talking about to listen to. I don't have any problem finding music in that style. Maybe you should spend time looking for it instead of trying to get people to sort their music differently.

I would be interested in forming a collective around this genre though as well. Would be cool.

For sure I get you. These are normally called net labels

respect, Chase, one of my favorite tracks of yours.

I suppose I could contribute to mechanical sounding tracks:

Really? I know Tympanik "went out of business" but the Bandcamp page is still up, makes me ? where that $ is going. Feels shady.

Okay that's what I figured and the N5MD mailorder had also said something along those lines. Either my mailorder has found an alternate source for the CDs or are actively searching out units on amazon or what have you. Honestly all the items were at sale price on their site, and they assured me that these things were in the mail. They tend to be a little slow shipping some orders but everything's come to me pristine and I'm sure that if things don't come then those pennies go back into the system and I order something else with it.

But, ever since HMV went out of business in this country... Hell I want my local indie (dark/elektro/industrial) mailorder to have ALL my pennies.

Ah, I see. I thought you meant that you ordered directly from TA.
